James Franco and More Celebrity Social Media Fails

James Franco has apologized for ‘using bad judgment’ in courting a 17-year-old girl on Instagram. But he’s not the only famous face to fall victim to a screw-up online.

According to 17-year-old Scottish tourist Lucy Clode, 35-year-old actor James Franco tried to pick her up via Instagram. Clode apparently took an Instagram video with the star, and tagged him, which allegedly set off a night of flirting. Unfortunately for the star, this is all documented in screenshots.

Franco responded to the kerfuffle by tweeting the following:

He then went on Live with Kelly and Michael to explain himself.

Franco isn’t the only famous face to fall victim to a social media screw-up.

Susan Boyle

Singer Susan Boyle’s publicity team tweeted to get the word out on her latest album. It really worked. Unfortunately, the hashtag used was #susanalbumparty. Read it very slowly. Yeah, not pretty.

Ashton Kutcher

When the nation is outraged over a child sex abuse scandal, it’s probably not a good thing to tweet, “How do you fire Jo Pa? #insult #noclass as a hawkeye fan I find it in poor taste.”

We spied, with our little eyes, something that may not have been as curvy as it appeared. This was the butt selfie that everyone was talking about.

Charlie Sheen

Charlie Sheen attempted to DM Justin Bieber his cell number over Twitter.  Unfortunately, the actor’s digits ended up on his timeline. Lesson: Never give beliebers your phone number, or you’ll get thousands of calls and texts.

Russell Brand

In 2011, Russell Brand tweeted a picture of then-wife Katy Perry with no make-up on. It was only a few months after their marriage. Not a great idea.

Russell Crowe

Russell Crowe claimed his Twitter account was hacked when he posted a naked picture of a woman last July.  His phone apparently went “ballistic.”

Troy Aikman

Former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Troy Aikman meant to send a private message to Mari Morrow, but tweeted it to his followers instead.

Hayley Williams

Paramore singer Hayley Williams leaked a topless shot of her on Twitter in 2010. It was supposed to be another DM.

William Shatner

In 2011, Facebook deleted William Shatner’s official account because they thought it was fake. He was confused, tweeting, “Don’t they know who I am?”

Rick Ross

Remember when Rick Ross thought Africa was a country?

Rihanna

Rihanna’s photo of herself with a slow loris would have been absolutely adorable, ifpossessing a loris wasn’t a punishable offense in Thailand.
