The palace made the official announcement of Kate's pregnancy this morning, and confirmed what the Royalist has been reporting since day one - that the baby is due in April.
The palace also said that Kate is continuing to suffer from the acute form of morning sickness known as hyperemesis gravidarum (HG), but that she is 'steadily improving.'
Kate and William were forced to issue a rushed announcement that Kate was pregnant last month, after HG, with which she was afflicted in her first pregnancy, struck a second time.
Kate has been absent from public view since the announcment was made on September 8. Kate and William made the initial announcement after being forced to cancel a long-scheduled appearance at Oxford University.
However, there was always an understanding that the 'due month' would be released after Kate had safely passed the 12-week mark.
Todays announcement comes after Kate was photographed leaving a clinic in London last week - presumably following her twelve-week scan. The New York Daily News published the pictures, but papers in the UK did not.
It is believed the couple were visiting royal obstetrician Alan Farthing.
Prince William was seen clutching an envelope, when they left, most likely containing images of the scan.
Kate looked happy.
It now seems clear that this was indeed the 12-week scan.
The palace also confirmed that Kate will make two public appearances tomorrow.
