Kate Middleton, the Queen and other members of the Royal Family gathered at St. Mary Magdalene Church near Sandringham for the traditional Christmas Day service today.
Kate was resplendent in green, but Prince George did not attend the service.
The wet weather meant most of the royals were quick to head home after church to Sandringham House. But Prince Harry stopped to speak to some of the waiting well-wishers, including two young children in festive hats and an elderly woman in a wheelchair.
In her annual speech broadcast to the nation, the Queen acknowledged the tragedies of 2015 while offering hope to the country.
“It is true that the world has had to confront moments of darkness this year. But the Gospel of John contains a verse of great hope, often read at Christmas carol services: 'The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.'”
