Prior to becoming President of Liberia, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf was head of the Governance Reform Commission of Liberia, Deputy Director of the United Nations Development Program, and an economist at the World Bank. She was the first Chairwoman of the Open Society Initiative for West Africa (OSIWA) and the first female Finance Minister of Liberia. She lives in Monrovia, Liberia.
