    MOCA's European Summer

    It may be struggling back home, but Los Angeles' Museum of Contemporary Art is on a foreign publicity tear. MOCA will make the rounds this summer as philanthropist Eli Broad hosts events at the Biennale this week—including a lunch attended by Naomi Campbell—and at Art Basel later this month. While Broad said the parties are “to let people know good things are happening” at MOCA, former board member Dean Valentine says the museum’s plans to heal its deficit won’t be that easy: “None of the fundamental issues that brought the museum to this pass has been dealt with, and simply cutting a few million dollars isn’t the same as a plan,” he said.
