Eva Longoria Named Philanthropist of the Year

When Eva Longoria Parker isn't playing a desperate housewife, she's standing up for the Latino community. Her activism and philanthropy are now being recognized by The Hollywood Reporter, which is honoring the petite actress with a Philanthropist of the Year award. Longoria Parker's list of credits include national spokesperson for Padres Contra El Cancer (Parents Against Cancer), founder of Eva's Heroes, an after-school program for children with developmental disabilities ( Longoria Parker’s sister is mentally disabled), and executive producer of a documentary exposing the plight of Latino child farm workers in the U.S. "I've never met a more conscientious and socially aware young, energetic talent," said THR's publisher.
