Friends of Abe, the super secret Hollywood club of conservative entertainment types, wants to be a little less secret and a little more important to Washington. The group, named for Abraham Lincoln, just hosted a major fundraiser for Senate candidate Carly Fiorina. Its annual bash was held in mid-June and hosted by Gary Sinise at a huge horse ranch; hundreds of actors, directors and other entertainment people showed up. Kelsey Grammer, Dennis Miller, Lee Greenwood and Jon Voight were there, as was Andrew Breitbart, and House Minority Whip Eric Cantor. Eyeing the impact of other nontraditional political groups like the Tea Party and Netroots, Friends of Abe wants to make a bigger impact. But Hollywood moguls have conflicting allegiances, donating to Obama one cycle and Fiorina the next. Despite a lot of talk, wallets have been slow to open.
