Tribune Co. Suspends Exec Over Memo

Innovation at The Tribune Co. may have gone a bit too far. After Chief Innovation Officer Lee Abrams sent an offensive memo to the entire newsroom—which included a link labeled “Sluts,” taking readers to a racy Onion parody—the company has suspended the exec, putting him on indefinite leave without pay. “[This] is the kind of serious mistake that can’t be tolerated; we intend to address it promptly and forcefully,” said Tribune Chief Executive Randy Michaels in an email to his staff. A “creative culture must be built on a foundation of respect.”
