Ralph Lauren Gets Key to New York City

This is a fashion first: Ralph Lauren will receive the “Key to New York City” on Thursday from Mayor Michael Bloomberg in a ceremony at the designer’s new store on the Upper East Side. Chosen for his charitable and economic contributions to the city, Lauren, 70, the son of Jewish Belarusian immigrants, employs 3,000 New Yorkers and is a major supporter of Lincoln Center and Central Park.
