Congress finally passed multibillion-dollar payouts for African-American and Native American farmers who were discriminated against in the 1980s and '90s—and House member Steve King is not happy about it. King, a Republican, lambasted the settlements, known as the Pigford claims, as "slavery reparations,” suggesting that President Obama supported a fraudulent bill. "Figure this out, Madame Speaker: We have a very, very urban Senator, Barack Obama, who has decided he's going to run for president, and what does he do?" King said. "He introduces legislation to create a whole new Pigford claim."
