Senator Joseph Lieberman will not seek reelection in 2012, according to a person informed of his decision who spoke to The New York Times. He is set to announce his future plans Wednesday. Lieberman, an independent who caucuses with the Democrats, has seen his favorability polls drop significantly in recent years as his bipartisan stance has alienated former Democratic supporters—and he hasn't been much more popular among Republicans. In short, the odds of being reelected are not in Lieberman's favor. Former Connecticut Secretary of State Susan Bysiewicz has already revealed that she will seek the Democratic nomination for his seat.
