How is everyone involved in The King’s Speech so charming? A shocked Tom Hooper won the Best Director award at the Directors Guild of America ceremony on Saturday night. Hooper told attendees, "I am overwhelmed. This is the highest honor of my life." The film is nominated for 12 Oscars including Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actor for Colin Firth's performance. Over the last 62 years the DGA Awards have been one of the best predictors for who will win big on Oscar night. The film’s cast and crew is still running high from their upset win at the Producers Guild Awards after running neck and neck with David Fincher's The Social Network. Other DGA winners include Martin Scorsese for Boardwalk Empire and Michael Spiller for ABC's Modern Family.
