Berlusconi Lashes Out

Please, let him take the stand: Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi has lashed out at prosecutors who are pursuing charges that he paid for sex with an underage girl. As a court decided whether or not to pursue charges against him, Berlusconi said “It’s a disgrace. It’s disgusting.” He called the charges a “farce,” and said he would sue the state—at taxpayers’ expense. The prosecutors, meanwhile, are hoping to skip a preliminary hearing and go straight to trial because of the “obviousness of the evidence.”
