Banksy's Oscar Mask Request Denied

You’d think movie people might get the costume thing, but the Academy Awards have rejected a request from graffiti artist Banksy to appear in disguise at Sunday’s Oscars ceremony. The heralded but anonymous street artist is nominated for his film Exit Through the Gift Shop, and said he’d put aside his disdain for awards shows if he could come incognito. But the Academy rejected the request, saying impostors might also wear disguises and, if he wins, come on stage to claim his statue. Banksy is now expected to skip the ceremony.
