    Wisconsin Judge Halts Union Law

    And this time she means it: A Wisconsin judge put a full stop to implementation of the state’s controversial union-busting law—for the second time. Speaking of her first directive, Judge Maryann Sumi said, “Apparently that language was either misunderstood or ignored.” Early in March, Sumi had instructed the state’s Republican leaders not to publish the law, which would strip unions of collective-bargaining rights and caused an uproar of protests during its debate. Instead, the GOP went ahead and asked a separate state agency to publish it. A state Department of Justice rep said he still believes the law is valid.
