Have Libyan rebels finally broken Muammar Gaddafi’s siege of Misrata? They claim to have captured the airport from Gaddafi’s troops in the city and to be pushing west toward the city of Zlitan. Misrata is the sole city in Western Libya in rebel hands; local doctors say more than 1,000 people died there since Gaddafi’s siege began two months ago. "This is a major victory," said a rebel spokesman. "The Gaddafi forces have been suffering lack of supplies. ... Their morale was very low after being defeated several times and pushed back."
