The attack that injured Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh was likely an “inside job” and an assassination attempt, according to STRATFOR, a U.S.-based authority on strategic and tactical intelligence issues. STRATFOR obtained photographs of the mosque where the attack was carried out. “It was done by someone who knew Saleh’s routine,” said the group’s vice president, adding that it was likely an explosive device rather than a mortar round. Saleh was treated for serious burn wounds in Saudi Arabia. His current condition isn’t known, though Yemeni authorities say he is stable.
