Ruler on Ice Wins Belmont Stakes

He might known as Ruler on Ice, but this horse dominated land Saturday as well. Ruler on Ice won the 143rd Belmont Stakes, upsetting favorites Stay Thirsty and Brilliant Speed. Ruler on Ice, ridden by Jose Valdiva Jr., had 24-1 odds to win the race. It is the first victory for trainer Kelly Breen. Valdiva tearfully thanked his wife and children and said he was at a loss for words, but said he was thinking on the track “oh my god,  oh my god, I’m going to win Belmont.”
