Petra Kvitova Wins First Grand Slam
On the women's court at Wimbledon Saturday, Petra Kvitova, 21, won her first Grand Slam title, beating Maria Sharapova 6-3, 6-4 in the finals. It was an upset for Sharapova, who entered the match as a frontrunner with three Grand Slam titles. She double faulted six times and her nerves ultimately got the better of her, while Kvitova never let down her guard. Kvitova is the first left-handed woman to win Wimbledon since her childhood idol Martina Navratilova took home the title in 1990.
