Romney Slams Debt Deal

He doesn’t have a vote to cast, but Mitt Romney still has something to say about the debt-ceiling deal. In a statement, the Republicans’ 2012 frontrunner slammed the compromise, saying that “President Obama’s leadership failure has pushed the economy to the brink at the eleventh hour and 59th minute.” Romney’s position is thought to be an appeal to conservatives, whom he must woo in his presidential primary, as well as an obvious line of attack against his potential competitor, Obama.
