Legendary Motown songwriter Nick Ashford died of throat cancer on Monday at age 70. As half of a songwriting team Ashford and Simpson with his wife, Valerie Simpson, he penned classic songs like “Ain't No Mountain High Enough,” “I'm Every Woman,” and “Ain't Nothing Like The Real Thing.” Though they wrote chart toppers in the ‘60s, ‘70s, and into the ‘80s, Ashford and Simpson continued to record and tour until recently.
