On the 10th anniversary of Sept. 11, military jets were called to escort two commercial flights to New York and Detroit after passengers reported suspicious bathroom activity. On an American Airlines flight from Los Angeles to New York, three passengers—two Israelis and one Russian—aroused suspicion for making repeated bathroom trips; earlier, on a Denver-to-Detroit Frontier Airlines flight, two people spent “an extraordinarily long time” in the bathroom, according to an airline spokesman. The FBI said it sent the fighter escorts “out of an abundance of caution.”
