Kurdish Rebels Kill 26 Turkish Soldiers

    At least 26 Turkish soldiers and police officers died Wednesday after Kurdish rebels launched simultaneous attacks in southeastern Turkey. The Turkish government responded by sending warplanes and ground soldiers into Iraq to target the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK). The border crossing may not turn into a diplomatic crisis, however, as the Iraqi government has agreed to let Turkey cross the border for “hot pursuit” operations.
