France’s new first daughter isn’t named Dahlia, as rumors suggested—it’s Giulia. Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, the supermodel turned first lady of France, posted a thank-you note announcing that her daughter’s name is Giulia. After swearing to shun the limelight, the ever-chic Bruni wrote, “On this happy occasion, my husband joins me in expressing our warmest thanks to all those of you who sent us these tokens of your kindness” on her personal website. Her husband, French President Nicolas Sarkozy was in Germany during his daughter’s birth, but returned to France to be with the newest addition to his family and said Friday he is “deeply happy” about his daughter’s birth. Sarkozy has three sons from his two previous marriages, and Bruni has a 10-year-old son from a previous relationship. This is the first daughter for them both.
