GOP’s Sole Cabinet Member Lashes Out

Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood—the lone Republican in President Obama’s cabinet—said in an interview with The Daily Beast that the GOP’s top priority is defeating Obama—and they care more about that than creating jobs. “I’ve been in Washington 35 years … and I’ve never seen a time when people have put their own personal political feelings over how we can get the economy moving,” LaHood said. LaHood blames the Tea Party freshmen in particular—saying they “came here to do nothing”—but he also blasted the GOP leadership. LaHood noted how different this freshman group of legislators is from the 1994 Republican revolution, which swept into Congress and passed through legislation at breakneck speed.
