Joe Paterno’s legacy has been dealt another blow. The Big Ten has decided not to put his name on its conference championship trophy in the wake of his firing from Penn State. The trophy would have been called the Stagg-Paterno trophy, after Paterno and former University of Chicago coach Amos Alonzo Stagg. The two share the record for most games as head coach. "We believe that it would be inappropriate to keep Joe Paterno's name on the trophy at this time," said the Big Ten’s commissioner. "The trophy and its namesake are intended to be celebratory and aspirational, not controversial.”
