Investigators Tracked Down McQueary

Mike McQueary may have, in fact, told police that he saw Jerry Sandusky raping a young boy in the shower, but it was the police who sought him out, not the other way around. According to people with knowledge of the case, after one complaint of sexual assault against Sandusky, investigators used a comment in an Internet forum about the university’s athletics, suggesting a Penn State football coach had witnessed some wrongdoing involving Sandusky, to seek out McQueary. It wasn’t until after the investigators had tracked down the former assistant football coach, that, with a little coaxing, he confessed what he’d seen in the locker room years before. The fact that the investigators met with McQueary in an obscure parking lot where they wouldn’t be seen suggests an effort to hide the inevitably disgracing scandal from the Penn State community.
