It was supposed to go to a moon of Mars, but it was stuck in the Earth’s orbit, and then it came crashing down, the Russian space agency said Sunday. An unmanned Russian probe fell to Earth this afternoon, landing 775 miles west of New Zealand's Wellington island and scattering across the Pacific. Scientists weren't too worried about the $170 million Phobos Ground getting in anyone's way, since most of it burned up in the atmosphere and falling space debris has never been known to harm anyone before. Still, it was one of the heaviest pieces of space junk to ever plumment back down.
