Sandra Fluke received a phone call from the president Friday. The Georgetown law student was called a “slut” by Rush Limbaugh this week because she advocated for birth-control coverage at a House hearing. Fluke recounted her conversation with the president on MSNBC, noting that Obama “encouraged me and supported me and thanked me for speaking out about the concerns of American women.” Obama also countered Limbaugh’s comment about how proud Fluke’s parents must be of her. “Your daughter ... testifies she's having so much sex she can’t afford her own birth controls,” the talk-show host had remarked. Obama, on the other hand, said Fluke’s parents “should be proud.”
