On the lam since Muammar Gaddafi was killed in Libya last year, former head of Libyan intelligence Abdullah al-Senussi was apprehended by Mauritanian security Saturday at an airport in the capital city of Nouakchott. The International Criminal Court has had a warrant for the 63-year-old’s arrest since he fled Libya a year ago. The action was a joint operation of French and Mauritanian authorities, President Nicolas Sarkozy announced, and said he would seek al-Senussi’s extradition. The spy master was convicted in 1989 and sentenced in absentia in France for an attack on a plane that left 170 dead.
