Indicted Ill. Democrat Wins Primary

Only In Chicago

Bribery charges haven't hurt Rep. Derrick Smith yet.

Before being hit with the charges, Smith had received a significant amount of support from House Speaker Michael Madigan, who sank $60,000 into his primary campaign. Now, though, major state Democrats are likely to pressure Smith to resign so they can choose a different candidate to run in the fall.
