Wisconsin labor unions are eager to oust Gov. Scott Walker, but they’re not completely desperate. Before they devote all their energy electing a Democrat in this June’s recall, several prominent labor unions are focused on getting Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett out of the race. The Democrat, the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees argues in an emailed video (which the Associated Press called misleading) this week, promoted the strategy Walker used to get his near-ban on collective bargaining rights passed. “In the small amount of public discussion around a scenario to split the bill, it was Democrats sounding the alarm bells to stop it, while Barrett was on the right-wing talk radio advocating for it,” said a spokesman.
