Newt Gingrich can’t catch a break these days. Broke, bouncing checks, he seeks refuge in his favorite place, the zoo, only to be attacked by a Magellanic penguin. “He was nipped on the finger by a penguin,” zoo public-relations director Susan Gallagher said. “A Band-Aid took care of the injury.” Gingrich, who has made a point of visiting zoos during his campaign, and who wrote the foreword to America's Best Zoos: A Travel Guide for Fans & Families, vowed to continue visiting zoos. “Newt is a zoo fan. He will be back,” said a spokesperson.
