Portuguese authorities said on Thursday that they will not be reopening the Madeleine McCann case, despite Scoland Yard’s comments the day before that the missing girl may still be alive. The British girl disappeared almost five years ago just days before her fourth birthday, while her family vacationed in Portugal. Scotland Yard released a photo of what they believe the girl would look like now. Portuguese authorities said on Thursday there are “no new elements” that would cause them to reopen the investigation. Hours earlier her parents, Kate and Gerry McCann, had said they were “hugely encouraged” by the recent momentum in the case.
