The most successful closer in Bronx Bomber history may be down for the count, teammates fear after he tore the ACL in his right knee during warmups before a game against the Royals in Kansas City on Thursday. “It’s hard to even talk about it tonight,” said teammate Alex Rodriguez. “Mo means so much to all of us on a personal level.” The 42-year-old has been a mainstay of the pinstriped pitching staff since 1997, and doctors say that the devastating injury will mean the end of Rivera’s season, and perhaps of his career. “If that’s the report,” Yankees Manager Joe Girardi told reporters, “if that’s what it is, that’s as bad as it gets.”
