Tacks Derail Tour de France Cyclists

More scandal a the Tour de France, this time actually during the race. “Hooligans,” as several angry tweeters called them, reportedly threw tacks onto the road during the race, leading to 30 riders suffering tire punctures, including reigning champion Cadel Evans and current leader Bradley Wiggins. The event’s organizer said the tacks are the kind used in mattresses or carpets and were obviously thrown by a spectator. While Wiggins finished the stage 18 minutes behind the pack, he still leads by two minutes.
