The identity of a suicide bomber in Bulgaria who killed six Israelis and a bus driver remaines a mystery a day after the bombing. While an earlier report identified Mehdi Ghezali, 33, a native of Sweden, as the suspect, Bulgarian and Swedish officials denied that Ghezali was involved. Sources said that although the suspect was carrying a fake Michigan driver's license, officials do not believe that he is related to al Qaeda, although one American official said the suspect is connected to Hezbollah. Bulgaria’s interior minister described him as a white male with glasses, long hair, and a backpack who looked like a tourist and carried a fake Michigan ID. Security footage shows he blended in with the Israeli tourists. Bulgarian officials declared the total death count to be seven—six of whom they said were Israelis. Bodies of five of the victims arrived in Israel early Friday morning, in coffins draped with the Israeli flag. The bus driver, a Bulgarian, also died in the explosion.
