Holmes Dazed in Court

Holmes is being held on suspicion of first-degree murder, and could also face additional counts of aggravated assault and weapons violations stemming from a mass shooting last Friday in a movie theater in Aurora, Colo., that killed 12 and injured dozens of others. James Holmes, the sole suspect in the Colorado movie-theater shooting, sat silent and seemingly dazed in his first court appearance Monday. Investigators say Holmes is not cooperating with them, and when they searched his apartment Sunday, they found several Batman-related items, including a poster for the movie and a Batman mask. The Batman paraphernalia was found in addition to several booby traps, ammunition, and 10 gallons of gas. Investigators believe Holmes had set up his home so that whoever opened the door would detonate several explosives, trapping people inside the apartment building. Aurora police say Holmes is “lawyered up” ahead of his court appearance and will not talk to investigators.
