Moody's Threatens German Rating

Germany, Luxembourg, and The Netherlands may see their own Moody's ratings suffer as a result of helping such struggling neighbors as Spain and Italy. Moody's investors service also suggested Monday that Greece has a good chance of leaving the euro zone, which "would set off a chain of financial-sector shocks … that policymakers could only contain at a very high cost." While Finland's AAA looks stable, France and Austria could be downgraded based on the effect of developments elsewhere in the euro zone. Basically any country "whose balance sheets are expected to bear the main financial burden of support" for struggling countries should expect its Moody's rating to be similarly volatile.
