    GOP Adopts Anti-Abortion Language

    The establishment may have wanted Todd Akin to go, but now Republicans have approved strict anti-abortion language for the party’s official platform. The phrasing calls for a constitutional amendment banning abortion and makes no explicit language for rape or incest. However, Republican officials did stress that certain details are better left to the states. The new language states, “the unborn child has a fundamental individual right to life which cannot be infringed. We support a human-right-to-life amendment to the Constitution and endorse legislation to make clear that the Fourteenth Amendment’s protections apply to unborn children.”
