The Office is closing its doors. The NBC comedy, which suffered a huge ratings drop following the exit of Steve Carell’s bumbling- boss character Michael Scott at the end of the show’s seventh season, will end its run after the upcoming ninth season. Other series regulars, including Mindy Kaling and Rainn Wilson, will only have limited roles this year, as they are already transitioning to other comedies. Even with its viewership dive, The Office was NBC’s highest-rated scripted comedy last season. Showrunner Greg Daniels says he’s unsure whether Carell will return for the sitcom’s swan song.
