Iran’s senior atomic energy official said Monday that separate explosions had targeted power supplies to the country’s two main uranium-enrichment facilities—including the deep underground location the U.S. and Israel have claimed is invulnerable. Fereydoon Abbasi, Iran’s senior nuclear scientist, said the United Nations’ nuclear inspections division, the International Atomic Energy Agency, is filled with “terrorists and saboteurs” and hinted they were responsible for the attacks. A spokesman for the IAEA would not comment as to whether power had been disrupted. Meanwhile, on Tuesday, Iran launched a submarine and a destroyer in the Gulf near the Strait of Hormuz, as the U.S. and allied navies held exercises nearby.
