A new Israeli government report has found that international sanctions are in fact hurting Iran and is calling for another round of restrictions. In his speech before the United Nations Thursday, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu admitted that sanctions have “had an effect on the economy, but we must face the truth—sanctions have not stopped Iran’s nuclear program either.” But the Foreign Ministry report lends support to President Shimon Peres and others who want to give sanctions more time to pressure Iran into negotiations. Four rounds of sanctions have already been placed on Iran.
