Since Ben Affleck is apparently not ready to give the people what they want, Rep. Edward Markey will step up to the plate and run for the Senate seat expected to become available with John Kerry’s nomination for secretary of state. He’s no movie star, but Markey, a Democrat, has been a member of the House since 1976 and is the most prominent politician to express interest in Kerry’s seat. “This fight is too important,” Markey said of his decision to run in 2013. “There is too much at stake.”
