Three suicide bombers launched an attack outside the headquarters of the traffic police in Kabul on Monday. Two additional attackers, armed with automatic rifles, stormed the area and fought with security forces for nearly eight hours. The assault killed three police officers and all five attackers. The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack, which is the second on a government building in less than a week. One government official said, “Honestly speaking, this type of attack, at the start of the year, indicates the coming months are going to be tough.”
