Dems Propose Assault Weapons Ban

Get ready for some fireworks on Capitol Hill. On Thursday, Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein introduced a bill banning assault weapons and high-capacity magazine clips, which she said will expand on the law that was in effect until 2004 but has been vehemently opposed by Republicans. Sen. Feinstein said the bill aims to “dry up the supply of these weapons over time.” The new measure will ban the sale of about 150 different types of firearms, including rifles and some handguns, but will exempt firearms used for hunting and fishing. It will also require that grandfathered weapons be included on the national registry.
