I love when you call me big papa. The freshly minted Pope Francis stood in a window above St. Peter's Square to give his first Angelus pray Sunday. Tens of thousands looked on, cheering the new pontiff as if he were a rock star. Earlier in the day, Francis made an impromptu appearance at a side door of the Vatican, then made his way to a parish inside the Vatican grounds. As he walked through a narrow passage, he reached across barriers and into the crowd, shaking hands and even laughing. People chanted “Francesco! Francesco!” They really like this guy. And if that wasn’t enough, he even sent his first tweet as @Pontifex: “Dear friends, I thank you from my heart and I ask you to continue to pray for me. Pope Francis.” No humblebrags here.
