Is Barbara Walters finally ready for a new view? The 83-year-old television host is poised to announce her retirement, according to multiple new reports. Deadline Hollywood, which broke the news, suggested that the View doyenne would leave in May. Then The New York Times's Brian Stelter tweeted that it will be May of next year, a report echoed by The Huffington Post's Jack Mirkinson. Whenever she does retire, Walters will no doubt get a big sendoff worthy of her 52 years on broadcast television. A trailblazing female TV journalist, Walters was the first co-host of a news show when she debuted on Today in 1974, and later the first co-anchor of a network evening news show when she was on ABC’s Evening News in 1976.

After 52 years on broadcast television.

Barbara Walters has made a career out of making interview subjects cry.
