Barbara Walters Retiring in 2014

She will remain executive producer of ‘The View.’

She’s really doing it. The legendary interviewer will announce her departure from TV journalism this Monday on The View. After 37 years with ABC News, Walters will be retiring next summer. She’ll remain executive producer of The View, which she created in 1997. Walters began her career at NBC with the Today show, and moved to ABC in the 1970s, becoming the first female anchor on an evening news program. “I am very happy with my decision and look forward to a wonderful and special year ahead both on The View and with ABC News,” she says of the announcement.
