A female Hofstra University student died early Friday morning after a ski-masked and armed intruder, who later died during a gun battle with police, broke into her home and shot her. While authorities have yet to release the victim’s name, neighbors say that the deceased is Andrea Rebello, a 20-year-old junior who shared the home with her twin sister, Jessica. According to the police report, the assailant entered the home around 2 a.m., then ordered one of the girls to leave and get him money from an ATM. The unidentified woman called 911 immediately. Soon after, neighbors say they heard what sounded like a woman shrieking, followed by the sound of gunshots.
